On December 19, 2025, Governor Kathy Hochul signed the Avoiding Vexatious Overuse of Impleading to Delay (AVOID) Act, amending CPLR ยง1007 to impose
stricter deadlines for filing third-party complaints in civil cases. The law takes effect April 18, 2026.
