Public Entity and Civil Rights Litigation

While the 1990s heralded an explosion of litigation in this area, our firm has been handling employment and civil rights cases since the 1970s when we represented numerous public entities, including numerous mid- and large-sized police departments throughout New Jersey. Our expertise in the defense of these cases led to the development of a practice area defending public entities in all types of civil rights cases, including 1983 cases, as well as unlawful taking and false arrest/imprisonment cases. We also have significant expertise defending school districts before administrative, federal and state courts against claims under the Rehabilitation Act and the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act.
