Erica Francisco-Lau joined Methfessel & Werbel in January 2025, bringing a wealth of expertise in handling complex legal matters. She began her career with the State of New Jersey at the Office of the Public Guardian for Elderly Adults, where she represented incapacitated elderly wards across a range of legal issues on behalf of the Acting Public Guardian.
Building on this foundation, Ms. Francisco-Lau transitioned to New York litigation, where she excelled in representing insurers and carriers in high-stakes property damage, no-fault, subrogation, and liability claims, involving out-of-state coverage issues. Before joining Methfessel & Werbel, Ms. Francisco-Lau served at a notable regional insurance defense law firm. There, she effectively represented insurers, self-insurers, and carriers in New York no-fault actions and New Jersey workers’ compensation matters. She also achieved significant success working with prominent entities, including Fortune 500 corporations, the Region’s government transportation infrastructure overseer, and North America’s largest transportation network, securing numerous dismissals in multi-jurisdictional cases and saving millions for her clients.
Ms. Francisco-Lau is a member of Methfessel & Werbel’s Civil Rights and Employment Practices Group under the direction of Eric L. Harrison.
