Steven Parness joined Methfessel & Werbel in 2013. With more than twenty-five years’ experience as a practicing attorney, Steven previously worked for both a boutique labor and employment law firm, and at a large New Jersey firm. As an Assistant Vice President at AIG, he was responsible for the handling of high-exposure toxic tort and asbestos claims. While in-house, Mr. Parness negotiated more than twenty multi-million dollar settlement agreements, and managed high-profile toxic tort litigation nationwide.

In private practice, Mr. Parness is a trial attorney, who has specialized in employment, civil rights, education, and insurance coverage law, and has successfully litigated cases in U.S. District Court, Superior Court, the Office of Administrative Law, PERC and various municipal courts. He has represented both private businesses and public entities, including many municipalities and school boards throughout the state. He also served as a Court Attorney in Bronx Supreme Court. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Parness worked in the New York State Assembly and taught English at Pace University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Mr. Parness works on Eric Harrison’s litigation team, where he focuses on advising clients and litigating employment, civil rights and education claims.
